Postcards sent to Piety Ann (Turner) Bisher
from her neice, Stella (Moon) Blanchard in 1909
I purchased these cards on EBAY some time ago. They were sent by Stella (nee Moon) Blanchard to her Aunt, Piety Bishir. Stella was married to Frederick Blanchard at the time with two little boys, Allen and Victor, and she lived in Columbus. The postcards were sent probably around 1909 and have small windows into which she inserted photographs of herself, her husband, and her boys. From the censuses, it looks like Stella was a daughter of Wyatt and Frances J. (nee Turner) Moon. The children listed for them in 1880 were Victor C., Charles T., Estella M., and Edna Moon. Frances was a sister of Piety Ann (nee Turner) Bishir.
There are seven cards, one for each family member - although I can't identify 3 of them as there is nothing on the back but an address. They are each 3 1/4" by 5 1/4". I scanned them at 300 dots per inch, so there should be enough resolution to enlarge the photos on them. I think they were birthday cards to their Great Aunt Piety Bishire in Lynchburg, Ohio from what Lenna wrote on hers. I scanned the front and the back and stuck them together (so the back is just below the front in the image).
A little additional information I dug up trying to build enough to connect with relatives. Stella was in Columbus, Ohio in 1910 with her husband Frederick & her little boys. In 1900 she's in a boarding house as Stella Moon with her brother and sister (Victor and Lenna) and Frederick Blanchard is also a boarder there - so I guess that's how they met. According to the 1910 census, they had been married for 7 years - so that puts that at 1903. I found a Victor E. Blanchard who died in Prescott, AZ in 1997 in the Social Security data base. There is an Allen Blanchard who died in Connecticut in 2000. Their birth dates seem to match the 1910 census.
