Monroe County.
About the year 1780, came John Nickell, Andrew Nickell and Robert Campbell, each of whom obtained a large tract of land on what is now known as the Pickaway Plains. They were soon joined by Archibald McDowell, William Pritt, Robert Knox and James Humphreys, all of whom were recently from Ireland.
