      Phyllis Reed Whitsett

      Phyllis Whitsett, of Orland, died Jan. 20 at a Chico care home. She was 93 years old.
      Phyllis was born Oct. 7, 1905 to Henry and Delia Reed, a pioneer Orland family. She graduated from Orland High School in 1923 and attended Healds Business College. She married Willis Whitsett June 16, 1925.
      Phyllis was active in the Orland Baptist Church in her younger years, and later was active in the Evangelical Free Church in Orland. She was a Orland resident for most of her life.
      Phyllis is survived by: daughter Dorothy Jean Smith of Chico; sons Charles Whitsett of Orland and Kenneth Whitsett of Sacramento; sisters Madge Reed and Martina Mynatt Buttler, both of Willows; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis in 1977, a sister and a brother.
      Services are planned for Monday, Jan, 25, 2 p. m., at F. D. Sweet & Son Chapel in Orland. Burial will be at the Orland Masonic Cemetery.
