Notes |
- It appears that her parents were both dead in 1880, as she is living with her aunt, Mary Grove (sister of Luella's mother, Cyrena). She is widowed and living in Xenia with her children and her brother, Robert Hardesty, in 1900. It appears that Curtis and May were listed that year also as inmates of the Clinton Co. Children's Home - although the birth year for Curtis is off by 3 years. In 1910 she is listed as a Spinner in a twine mill. She died of pneumonia around 1916. Her daughter, Dorothy was taking care of her in Xenia at the time of her death. She died at age 49 of Pernicious Anemia.

LONG ILLNESS ENDS IN DEATH FOR MRS. LUELLA TAYLOR
Well known woman of West Second Street passes away Saturday night at age of 49 years -- Funeral will be held in Clinton County.
Mrs. Luella Hardesty Taylor, widow of Curtis Taylor, died at 5:30 Saturday evening at her home on West Second street. She was a sufferer from anemia, and had been in ill health two or three years.
Mrs. Taylor was 49 year of age. She was born at Lees Creek, Clinton Co., and was the youngest daughter of James an Lurena Hardesty. She was married to Curtis Taylor when she was 18 years of age. Her husband and one son and a grand-daughter preceded her in death, and she is survived by three daughters and one son; Curtis Taylor, Pansy, May and Donna. She also leaves a sister and brother, Robert Hardesty and Mrs. Eliza Moore, and seven grand-children.
Since the death of her husband Mrs. Taylor had made her home with her brother, who with his family had cared for her tenderly during her long illness. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Friends’ church.
Funeral services will be held at Cowen’s Creek Baptist church in Clinton County, at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, the cortege leaving the home at 8 o’clock.
