SANTA MONICA, June 20. (Exclusive) -- With blaring brass bands, stringed orchestras and Arkansas fiddlers providing the music, thousands of Santa Monicans danced in the streets here tonight to signal the opening of the city’s annual Pioneer Days celebration.
Los Angeles and other neighboring cities are entering into the celebration. From Topanga Canyon and the Calabasas districts large delegations galloped into town today for the big stree dance and grand ball. George Stokes headed a Calabasas caravan which included forty cowboys, chuck wagons, pack animals and covered wagons. This outfit “calculates to stay all week.”
