CARL E. HILDEBRANDT

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley for Carl E. Hildebrandt, 83, of Brawley, who died Jan. 10 in Miami.
Deacon Bill Baker of Trinity Lutheran Church of Brawley will officiate.
Mr. Hildebrandt was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Denver, where he was raised.
He moved from Denver to Daly City as a teenager.
Mr. Hildebrandt served on the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to World War II and then served in the U.S. Army from 1940-44.
He married the former Myrene Basher on July 2, 1943, in Albuquerque.
After his discharge, he moved to Brawley and began working as a truck driver for Carter-Hunter Oil Co. and later worked for Sandia Corp. and Philco Ford at Naval Air Facility El Centro for 20 years.
He later was employed at Sacred Heart Catholic School as a general maintenance worker and drove a school bus in Westmorland.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Brawley for more than 50 years.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, an Eagle Scout, a member of Disabled American Veterans, a former member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and a gunsmith and dedicated fisherman.
Mr. Hildebrandt was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrene Hildebrandt, on Aug. 6, 1989; second wife, Lillian Bass Hildebrandt, on April 17, 1998; son, C.J. Hildebrandt, on Nov. 20, 1964; and grandsons, Bryan Bullock on June 14, 1985, and Christopher Bullock on June 9, 1986.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Rice Bullock of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Bullock of McHenry, Ill.; adopted daughter, Carla Eddins of Brawley; and sister, Ruth Howard of San Jose.
