    • There is a card in the Pennsylvania State Archives that lists a George Hoover, who enrolled on 4-22-1861 at Wilkes-Barre at the age of 25. His residence was Kingston in Luzerne County. The occupation was blacksmith. He was a private.

      Wounded in the Battle of Gettysburg in July, 1863.

      Enlisted September 6, 1862 as a private. Company D, 143rd Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania.
      Died from wounds on August 16, 1863, at Philadelphia, PA. Source: Ancestry.com, American Civil Was Soldiers, Provo, Utah.
