  • Notes
    • Jacob served with F. W. Fontleroy, Commanding Officer of the Minute Men Organization in 1860, and he was in the Mounted Ranging Company under Captain Hiram W. Cooke in 1861. The citizens of Coryell County had petitioned the Governor for permission to raise a company to protect from the Indians. He and his brother William J. Mills purchased 640 acres of land in Coryell County on the Leon River about 31 miles above the three forks of the Little River in 1870. Jacob later bought 8 acres at the edge of the City of Gatesville in 1872. He died in Laredo, Webb County, Texas, in 1922.
